American Ecology to Buy Consulting Firm

American Ecology, based in Agoura Hills, has agreed to acquire Associated Technologies, a consulting engineering firm in Charlotte, N. C. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Associated Technologies, with 60 employees, serves as a consultant to the military and to operators of nuclear power plants on the handling of radioactive waste. The company reported sales last year of about $10 million.
American Ecology, with sales last year of nearly $58 million, has 320 employees. U. S. Ecology, a Kentucky-based American Ecology subsidiary, was designated in December by the California Department of Health Services to design and build the state’s first low-level radioactive waste dump. The site has yet to be determined.
