No. 1 Chapman Beats San Luis Obispo

The Chapman College men’s tennis team, the defending NCAA Division II champion and ranked No. 1 in the country, defeated third-ranked Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 6-3, Saturday in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match played at Chapman College.
Troy Turnbull, the nation’s top-ranked Division II singles player, defeated 10th-ranked Paul Landry, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6, in the No. 1 singles match. Paul Wekesa, the Panthers’ No. 3 singles player, defeated Todd West, 6-3, 6-4.
Chapman (4-0 in conference, 4-3 overall) has won 17 straight CCAA matches dating back to April, 1982.
