Wilkinson Quits as Head of Farm Credit Agency

Donald E. Wilkinson resigned Monday as acting chief of the Farm Credit Administration, which he headed for nine years as governor.
The resignation, submitted to President Reagan, would take effect March 28.
Under a law passed last December to shore up and improve management of the financially besieged Farm Credit System, the regulatory agency is to be run by a full-time, three-member board instead of a part-time, 13-member board that set policy for the governor.
Wilkinson, 63, and a growing chorus of members of Congress and farm group representatives are complaining that the Administration is delaying appointment of the new board and a permanent chief at a time when farm lenders are preparing for the spring lending season.
