Police Foil Hijacking by Shooting Out Tire on Jet

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A man put a gun to a co-pilot’s head aboard an otherwise-empty Delta Air Lines DC-9 on Friday and ordered him to take off, but police shot out a tire on the plane and the gunman surrendered, authorities said.
