Valerie Dehn Named Most Valuable Player for UC Irvine Women’s Basketball Team

Senior Valerie Dehn was named most valuable player Sunday at the UC Irvine women’s basketball awards banquet in Newport Beach.
Dehn, a 5-foot 8-inch guard from Arcadia, led the Anteaters in scoring with 14.3 points per game. She scored in double figures in 22 of Irvine’s 28 games. She also led the team in free-throw percentage (.701).
Sophomore center Natalie Crawford, who led the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. in blocked shots with an average of 3.9 per game and was a second-team All-PCAA selection, was voted most inspirational player. Forward Natasha Parks was named freshman of the year.
UCI, 6-8 and fourth in the PCAA, was 14-14 overall.
