Olympian champion Tyrell Biggs, fighting with a broken right collarbone, outjabbed and outdanced hard-hitting Jeff Sims to win a unanimous decision at Reno in his first 10-round fight.
Biggs, 9-0 with six knockouts, said the collarbone was broken by a hard right by Sims in the second round. Biggs said Sims, 23-4-1 with 21 knockouts, apparently didn’t realize how much damage he had done to the shoulder.
In a preliminary bout, former World Boxing Assn. junior heavyweight champion Ossie Ocasio improved his record to 22-4-1 with a unanimous 10-round decision over Sixto Maldonado, 13-4.
