Complex Slates Midyear Finish

A midyear completion is scheduled for the $12.5-million Big America tourist complex under construction at Interstate 10 and Indio Springs Drive in Indio.
The complex, centered around a 126-room hotel, tourist center, restaurant and service station, will be the pilot for other centers in the West, according to John J. Cox, president of Big America Inc., El Toro, developers.
Spanish contemporary architecture by David G. Clark AIA, a principal in the development, is featured, including a 50-foot identity tower. Construction financing is from Mitsui Manufacturers Bank, Los Angeles, with permanent financing by Southern California IBEW-NECA Pension Plan.
