WHITTIER — Quaker author Jan de Hartog, who spoke at last year’s commencement program at Whittier College, has donated a complete collection of his books and manuscripts to the college’s Wardman Library.
The Dutch-born novelist and playwright’s collection contains dozens of books, planning boards and tracing characters, manuscripts and work sheets, 14 hours of television film on the Quaker movement in America, portraits and writings of his parents, and a desk and chair.
De Hartog is scheduled to return to the Whittier campus early in November for a series of lectures on “The Three Crises in Quaker History.”
