2 Remove Remains From Crypt

A woman’s skull was removed from a crypt at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery early today and was found lying beneath a car near the cemetery, police said. Eric Craig, 20, was then arrested in the crime, Los Angeles police reported.
Lt. Edward Hocking said Craig and Ronald Matzick, 21, apparently used a large stone to break through the marble seal of a wall crypt. Craig was seen by police crouching beside a car near the cemetery at 3:45 a.m., and the decomposing head was discovered beneath the car, Hocking said. A copper box holding cremated remains of another person was found on a nearby wall. The motive was unclear, Hocking said. The woman, whose identity was not released, had been interred between 10 and 15 years ago, he said.
