MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — Two people were arrested for investigation of arson after a brush fire charred about 1,500 acres in Riverside County, fire officials said Friday.
California Department of Forestry investigators said they arrested Robert Allen Brown, 19, a recent resident of Moreno Valley, and an unidentified 16-year-old after the blaze broke out about 3 p.m. Thursday.
The fire was contained at 10:20 p.m., and control was expected sometime Friday, Capt. Terry Adkins said. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. Damage was estimated late Thursday at $1,500.
Brown was being held at Riverside County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. The teen-ager was being held at Riverside Juvenile Hall, forestry spokeswoman Stephanie Regis said.
