La Verne : New Lights at Brackett Field
Workers have begun installing new runway lights at Brackett Field under a contract awarded two weeks ago by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.
Brackett Field is a general aviation airport that handles 500 to 1,000 private plane flights a day, an airport spokesman said.
A $303,759 bid by Raymor Electric Co. of San Gabriel was the lowest of five submitted, county Supervisor Pete Schabarum said. About 90% of the project’s cost will be covered by funds from the Federal Aviation Administration’s airport improvement program, a county spokeswoman said.
The project, scheduled for completion by December, will include repair of the runway’s pavement.
