Thomas J. Skutt was named chairman and chief executive of Mutual of Omaha Cos. as part of a major restructuring of top management. Skutt, 55, replaces his father, V.J. Skutt, as chairman.

The elder Skutt, 84, will be chairman emeritus and will remain on the board.
