Fluor Subsidiary to Share in China Electricity Project

Fluor Daniel Engineers and Constructors Ltd., a subsidiary of Irvine-based Fluor Corp., is involved in a venture that has been awarded a contract to operate, maintain and train personnel for a new coal-fired electrical power plant in in the People’s Republic of China. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
The contract was awarded to Electrical Power Services (China), a joint venture formed by Fluor Daniel and British Electricity International Ltd.
The contract covers two 350-megawatt plants under construction at Shajiao near Guangzhou. They are scheduled to go into service in mid-1987 to supply power to Guangzhou and Guangdong province.
Electrical Power Services (China) will supply a team of workers to manage, operate and maintain the plant for four years. Training for the 350 Chinese personnel will be provided through on-the-job and classroom training, in both English and Chinese.
