ADEN, South Yemen — The government of South Yemen on Saturday said it released 600 supporters of former President Ali Nasser Hasani held since he was ousted in a bloody power struggle in January.
Officials said members of the armed forces and a number of civilians are included in the amnesty. They did not say whether other people are still being held.
The release brings to 3,500 the number of people reported to have been freed under a general amnesty declared in March for Hasani’s supporters.
