A high school football player in Phoenix died after collapsing during a non-contact drill.
Craig Larsen, a 16-year-old junior defensive lineman at Deer Valley High School, was pronounced dead at a hospital Tuesday, about an hour after he collapsed on the football field, said Wayne Kindall, Deer Valley athletic director.
The 6-1, 190-pound Larsen had just finished a half-speed tackling drill when he collapsed.
An autopsy was performed but the cause of death was not determined and remains under investigation.
