Local News in Brief : Pedestrian, Hit by Truck in Encino, Dies

An unidentified man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon as he walked across Balboa Boulevard in Encino, Los Angeles police said.
The truck’s driver did not stop but a witness got the license plate number and investigators believe they will be able to locate the driver, Sgt. Joe Cross said.
The man was killed instantly, police said.
The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Balboa just north of Burbank Boulevard, police said.
