The World : Food Trucks Reach Sudan

A convoy of trucks carrying 700 tons of relief food has arrived in the southern Sudanese town of Juba, the World Food Program said in Rome. The U.N. agency said the shipment came from the town of Nimule on the Ugandan border and is the first to reach the south by road since the end of July. The news agency estimates that 2 million people are in danger of starvation in southern Sudan because of dislocations caused by fighting between government troops and guerrillas.
