Boston Nurses Back on Jobs, May Strike Again

BOSTON — Nurses returned to work at three city-owned hospitals Sunday, ending a 48-hour strike that cost their union $20,000 in fines, but hospital officials said they were prepared for another walkout.
The nurses walked out Friday, after the city refused to offer more than a 4.8% annual wage increase on a two-year contract. Suffolk Superior Court Judge John F. Moriarty found the union in contempt of a return-to-work order Saturday and imposed the fines.
