A 55-year-old Van Nuys man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol after his car slammed head-on into another in Van Nuys, killing a Northridge man, Los Angeles police reported Friday.
Robert Skiba was released from County Jail after posting bail in connection with the Thursday-night collision, which killed Larry Young, 64, Officer Arnold Breitenbach said.
Skiba was going south about 7:40 p.m. on Hayvenhurst Avenue just north of Sherman Way when his car drifted off the road, hit a tree and bounced into opposing traffic, Breitenbach said. Young died at the scene of massive head injuries.
Skiba suffered minor cuts on his face, police said.
