The Cal State Northridge womens volleyball team posted four victories at the La Verne Invitational volleyball tournament Friday at La Verne University.
CSUN defeated Point Loma, 15-10, 15-3, Fort Hays (Kansas) 15-6, 15-4, and La Verne 15-4, 15-7 in the first round. The Lady Matadors then defeated conference rival Cal Poly Pomona in the second round of competition, 15-6, 15-1.
CSUN will face Cal State L.A. today in the final game of the second round at 10:30 a.m. The winner of that match plays the winner of a UC Riverside--U.C. San Diego match in the championship game at 6 p.m.
Sue Darcey led the Lady Matadors with six kills against Cal Poly Pomona.
“We had a little problem with serving early in the day,” CSUN assistant coach Rob Wortmann said. “But we did a nice job of taking care of that part of the game against Pomona.”
