MIAMI — Nearly three months after slipping away from the Moscow State Circus, high-wire team Nikolai and Bertalina Nikolski got a standing ovation at their American debut Wednesday night and said they had no regrets about defecting.
The Nikolskis said they shunned the big Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus, choosing instead to perform for a month with Circus USA here. Then, they said, they will book dates on their own in hopes of earning more money as an independent act.
