Ex-Astronaut to Pay Ex-Playboy Bunny $1,200 Child Care

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who walked on the moon 15 years ago, must pay an ex-Playboy bunny $1,200 a month for fathering her 2-year-old child, an appeals court said.
The 4th District Court of Appeal ruled Wednesday that Mitchell, 55, must pay child support for his son, Adam. The mother is Sheila Ann Ledbetter, a yoga instructor with whom Mitchell lived periodically in 1983 and 1984 in Jupiter, Fla.
In a hearing last year, Mitchell told a judge he earns $12,794 a month as a consultant but has to pay his former wife, a Palm Beach publicist, alimony out of that amount.
“The amount of money I have left when I’ve paid all my bills is pretty skimpy,” Mitchell said.
