House OKs Nev. National Park

WASHINGTON — The House approved compromise legislation today to create the Great Basin National Park, a 77,000-acre mountainous expanse that would be Nevada’s first national park.
The proposal was sent by voice vote to the Senate, which has passed Reagan Administration-supported legislation to create a 44,000-acre Great Basin park. The 77,000-acre plan is a scaled-back version of a bill passed earlier by the House to create a 129,000-acre park and an adjacent 45,000-acre national preserve where hunting would be permitted.
