MUNICH, West Germany — An East German family of four fled to West Germany across barriers at the border early Friday, West German police reported.
A 44-year-old man, his 37-year-old wife, their 12-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son got through the defenses at the border without incident, police said.
Details of the escape were withheld for security reasons, a police spokesman said. The exact site of the escape on the Bavarian border was not disclosed.
