Police have arrested a 37-year-old Stanton man in connection with the weekend stabbing of another man, authorities said Tuesday.
Stanton Police Sgt. Steven Kelch said Lawrence Eugene Murillo was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Monday at an undisclosed location in Stanton. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Murillo was arrested in connection with the stabbing of Benjamin Alan Arabello, 39, of Stanton. The incident occurred shortly before 2:45 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot at Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, Kelch said.
Arabello underwent surgery at UCI Medical Center in Orange and was still listed in serious condition on Tuesday. Kelch said investigators had yet to establish a motive for the stabbing.
