Newspaper headlines have run shivers down my back on more than one occasion in the past, but the one (Times, Jan. 8) that read, “Two Colossal Arcs in Far Galaxies Baffle Scientists,” evoked the ultimate shudder, confirming my worst fantasies.
McDonald’s has invaded the last frontier.
