The Securities and Exchange Commission said it would use the additional funds to escalate the war against insider trading and other securities fraud. The Reagan Administration has requested $145 million for the SEC in fiscal 1988, and SEC Executive Director George Kundell said that if Congress agrees to the $30.5-million increase, the agency could add staff and resources in enforcement operations, regional offices and in the EDGAR program--the computerized project designed to automate filing, processing and dissemination of documents filed with the agency.
