Charges against Daniel Ellsberg and 13 other people who protested when the battleship Missouri visited San Francisco last June were dismissed by a judge. The 14 activists were arrested June 28, 1986, while protesting a House of Representatives vote three days earlier which authorized $100 million in aid to the Nicaraguan contras. San Francisco police charged them with blocking a public access. “After a thorough review of the situation, it is our opinion that we can no longer proceed to trial in these matters,” Assistant Dist. Atty. Adrian Ivancevich told Municipal Judge Philip Moscone. The Missouri visited San Francisco briefly last year. The city already has agreed to serve as home port for the famed battleship. Ellsberg, 55, of Pentagon Papers fame, has been arrested more than 30 times.
