The FBI has begun a search for race car driver Randy Lanier, who is charged with drug trafficking in a marijuana smuggling case and was supposed to surrender to a U.S. magistrate.
Lanier, 32, was charged in an Illinois indictment with continuing criminal enterprise, which carries a minimum mandatory 10-year prison term.
Lanier, the Indianapolis 500 rookie of the year last year, was charged with smuggling 80,000 pounds of marijuana into the United States and conspiring to distribute it in Illinois and Florida.
