Wright Leads UCI to Swimming Win

Sophomore Matt Wright won the 100-meter freestyle and was second in the 50-meter freestyle to lead the UC Irvine men’s swimming team to a 129-82 victory over Claremont Mudd-Scripps Friday at Irvine.
Wright won the 100 free in 48.11 seconds. Sophomore Mauro Macchi won the 200 free and was third in the 200 butterfly. UC Irvine (5-4) swims against Pomona-Pitzer at 2 today at Irvine.
In women’s swimming, senior Lee McKinney led UCI to a 125-34 victory over Loyola Marymount at Irvine. McKinney won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.86 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.34.
Freshman Shannon Endsley also won two events for the Anteaters. Endsley won the 200 free in 2:00.4 and the 100 fly in 1:02.18.
