Southern Californians now can use mobile telephone service from Palm Springs and adjacent Coachella Valley communities all the way to Ventura County. The PacTel system has more than 65,000 subscribers in the Los Angeles Basin, the largest number of any system in the U.S. and about 10% of the nationwide total.
