Santa Fe Springs : St. Paul Hires Grid Coach

Miguel Olmedo, 25, has been appointed football coach at St. Paul High School.
Olmedo, a 1979 graduate of St. Paul, was the outside linebacker coach at UC Santa Barbara last year. Previously, he had spent six years as an assistant coach at St. Paul. He was named to the All-Angelus League team in 1978 as a defensive end.
Olmedo was one of 28 applicants for the job. He replaces Rick Ready, who was fired after posting a 13-9 record in two seasons.
