‘Crime Sweep’ of Homeless

I am outraged that city officials would make a sweep of Skid Row areas and destroy their possessions. What right do they have to deprive these people of their only belongings? This is an extreme, cruel invasion of civil and human rights. Is there no one to stand up for these people and see that their meager holdings are protected?
