An abandoned Danish freighter loaded with a 400-ton cargo of dynamite was towed gingerly toward the English coast. Dutch salvage experts boarded the 299-ton Hornestrand to attach a towline in the morning and reported no signs of the blaze that forced the crew to abandon ship. The vessel was towed slowly toward Falmouth on England’s southwest coast by the salvage tug Typhoon--escorted by a Royal Navy vessel that warned shipping to keep at least five miles distant. Falmouth has a special anchorage for handling dangerous, explosive cargo.
