As quarterback Ron Jaworski discussed his departure from the Philadelphia Eagles with reporters Tuesday at his Sewell, N.J., restaurant and golf club, he joked about a new name for his facility.

Known as the Eagles’ Nest, Jaworski suggested he might rename it “Raiders Roost” or “Falcons Crest.”

Jaworski, 35, a 14-year veteran who started his career with the Rams and spent 10 years with the Eagles, had been told by the Eagles that the club would not guarantee his $600,000 contract for 1987. The team’s decision essentially makes Jaworski a free agent, although he must first pass unclaimed through a 10-day waiver period during which he cannot negotiate with any club.

Are the Raiders interested in Jaworski?

Said executive assistant Al LoCasale Wednesday: “Well, it’s certainly not on the front burner. But, we have a lot of respect for what Jaworski has done in his career.

“We talk about a lot of people. We are always looking for someone who can help the Raiders. But no one can talk to him for 10 days, anyway.”
