Catfish-cook-turned-singer Randy Travis captured four awards, and the Statler Brothers won three--including entertainers of the year--at the fan-voted Music City News country awards show in Nashville. Travis, at 27 a million-seller after less than two years as a recording artist, was named star of tomorrow and also took male vocalist, best album and best single record honors during Monday night’s syndicated television awards program. The Statlers, a quartet discovered in 1963 by country king Johnny Cash, shared the spotlight at the awards show they have dominated for a decade, winning country music television special and group of the year.
