Newspaper Guild members in Baltimore accepted a contract with the publisher of The Sun and The Evening Sun that called for a pay raise averaging 4% a year for the next three years. The vote was 258-110 in favor of the new contract. The 650 reporters and advertising and circulation workers will have to pay premiums for medical benefits, and workers at the suburban bureaus will continue to earn less than their metro counterparts under the pact. Guild Local 35 struck the two newspapers last week, mainly over the medical benefits and two-tier pay plan.
