Thomas Pickering, the ambassador to Israel, said the United States may cancel immunity from prosecution granted 18 months ago to three Israelis involved in the Jonathan Jay Pollard spy case. He referred to Rafael Eitan, who directed Pollard’s spying against the United States for Israel; Yosef Yagur, a former science attache at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and Irit Erb, a former embassy secretary. They were given immunity in return for a pledge by Israel of full cooperation in the Pollard investigation, but Justice Department officials say that the promise has not been kept.
