ON THE TOWN I: Whew! Now L.A.’s beaches are more than just clean. They’re mellow, too, thanks to KTWV-FM (the Wave), which just donated 6,000 trash barrels--all painted Wave-blue and sporting the Wave’s curvy New Age logo. The containers are being installed at strategic spots along a 31-mile stretch of L.A. County coastline. . . . From trash to flash: Dainty Adore O’Hara, just back from a year’s engagement on New York’s late-night club circuit, will be at Raji’s Wednesday night, singing the blues. Not because he can’t find an apartment--or a new dress--but because our oddest pop diva is crooning W. C. Handy-era blues standards these days. . . . L.A.’s homeless may not have much clout with City Hall--they’re scheduled to lose their temporary camp site Aug. 10. But they’re getting lots of support from the Butchers, a local band who’ve released a 12-inch single called “Justiceville,” and will perform (with the Leaving Trains and others) next Sunday afternoon at the impromptu tent city. The Butchers’ single’s flip-side, “Ted’s Rap,” features lyrics by homeless activist Ted Hayes. The song, on NOtown Records, is available at most area alternative record stores.
