North Valley Opens Palomino Zone Play

The North Valley Mules, a Palomino League baseball team for players aged 17 and 18, open play today in the Western Zone regionals at San Diego State University.
The Mules, second-place finishers last year in the Palomino World Series, are 16-0 this season, including a 6-5 victory over La Puente in the Coast regional at El Monte on Sunday.
The Mules must win four games in the double-elimination tournament to again qualify for the World Series, which begins Aug. 13 in North Carolina.
Players on the team include 1987 Times All-Valley selections Scott Sharts, Jeff Cirillo, Jeff Light, Damon Buford, Ernie Perez and Dain Turner.
North Valley will face a team from the San Diego region at 2 p.m.
