Iowa authorities said they plan to file charges against the father of a 7-year-old Oakland boy for falsely reporting his son’s abduction, triggering a nationwide manhunt for the boy and his alleged kidnaper. Urbandale police said Kenneth Fairley Jr. was found at the home of his grandmother in Oakland. The discovery came about 10 hours after Fairley’s father, Kenneth Fairley Sr., told police in the Iowa city that his son was abducted by a hitchhiker he picked up on Interstate 35 near Kansas City, Mo. “All we can say at this point is that the boy is safe and unharmed,” Detective Wayne Reser said.
