Ramona Ripston will be returning to her old job as executive director of the Southern California affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union after spending the last 18 months as vice president and West Coast director of People for the American Way, an organization opposing the religious right. Ripston, who had been in the ACLU post for 15 years before her resignation in January, 1986, confirmed reports of her return, noting that after the boards of the affiliate and the ACLU Foundation asked her back, “I had to say yes.”
