Japan has called home its top diplomats in the United States to evaluate its ties with Washington, a Foreign Ministry official said in Tokyo. Ambassador Nobuo Matsunaga and the consuls general of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and four other cities will meet with senior ministry officials next week, said the official, who asked to remain anonymous. She said an upcoming visit to the United States by Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michiko will also be discussed.
