Fletcher Wins Noseriding Meet

Herbie Fletcher of San Clemente dominated the Hang Ten Noseriding Contest by winning his five heats and taking the first-place prize of $5,000 Friday at the Oceanside Pier.
Chris Schlickenmyer of Hawaii was second, Stu Kenson of San Diego was third and Reese Patterson of Manhattan Beach placed fourth.
In noseriding, surfers compete by accumulating time riding on the front 20 inches of a long board.
The event was a prelude to the Hang Ten-Oceanside Long Board Classic today and Sunday, beginning at 7 a.m. each day.
