So it has been a decade since Elvis Presley died. I, for one, don’t give a damn.

Presley’s death, however, did occur within a few days of the death of the greatest singing actress the operative stage has ever known. The current media attention over Presley now and in the future will serve to prompt me to reflect upon the life and death of Maria Callas.
