A former DePaul basketball star was charged Thursday with 17 counts of armed robbery for what police said was a series of gasoline station holdups.
Norman (Skip) Dillard, 27, a guard on the 1979 DePaul team that lost in the semifinals of the NCAA Final Four, was jailed awaiting a bond hearing Friday, Chicago Police said.
Dillard and Andrew Robinson, 29, both of Chicago, were arrested early Friday when police traced a license plate number from the getaway car following the latest holdup, police said. Robinson was charged with three counts of armed robbery.
The series of robberies, beginning in July, all happened at Clark gasoline stations, and one or two robbers always carried either a knife or a screw driver, according to police, who said they did not know how much cash was taken.
