UCLA’s Peter Pelle scored on a 10-yard header late in the second half to give the Bruins a 1-0 victory over Fresno State in the first round of the Far West Regional of the NCAA Division I men’s soccer playoffs on Sunday.
The victory improved UCLA’s record to 14-6-1, and the Bruins will meet Nevada Las Vegas in a second-round match next week. The loss ended the Bulldogs’ season at 16-6-1 and snapped a seven-match winning streak.
