The Olympic torch relay for the Calgary Winter Games was launched in a traditional ceremony staged at Ancient Olympia, Greece, the site of the ancient Olympic Games.
A 19-year-old Greek, Stelios Bisbas, held the flickering torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other as he jogged through the first half-mile of the relay, which will conclude in Calgary on Feb. 13, the opening day of the Games.
