Highlighting Saturday night’s artists reception at the gallery of the Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park will be a reading by Harry Gamboa Jr., participant in the “L.A. Three” exhibit now on view and a recent recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts New Genre Fellowship. Gamboa, who will be reading from recent works, is “always provocative, sardonic and entertaining,” according to gallery director David Avalos. “The Centro is honored to have him.” Also represented in the exhibit are Barbara Carrasco and Patssi Valdez. The reception, open to the public, will be held from 6-10 p.m., with Gamboa’s reading at 8.
