Kemper Corp.’s net rose 25% to $251.4 million for 1987, compared to 1986. Sales for the year were $3 billion, up 9% from the previous year. The Long Grove, Ill.-based insurance and investment services firm said fourth-quarter operating earnings fell 17% to $39.5 million, compared to the same period in 1986. The company said the results reflect a tax benefit of $29.6 million due to the 1986 Tax Reform Act.
